Shaun Anthony

Shaun Anthony

19-Year-old Shaun Anthony's story is taken from the stuff of which dreams are made! He was overheard singing outside his Vocal Tech college one afternoon by Pyramid's Darren Brown as he happened to be passing by. Later that day Shaun found himself singing in a studio as Lemar and the team listened intently - blown away by his talent.

Since being signed to Pyramid Entertainment Shaun has been working with some of the UK's finest writers. Shaun is currently working on a ‘Soulful Pop’ album and his debut single Come On Over is available now.

EUT: Give us a brief history of your musical background.

Shaun Anthony: My musical background is quiet varied. I grew up listening to Motown and Classic Soul at home and soon got a taste for more modern artists such as Brian McKnight (my idol). I was influenced by many genres including R&B, Gospel, Soul, pop, but it was at Performing Arts College that I began to understand what it was to be a true artist and to appreciate what it

meant to sing a really great song and live for it.

EUT: Who inspired you when you were younger?

Shaun Anthony: My main inspiration was Stevie Wonder. He is so amazingly talented and inspired me to sing. it's important to have someone to look up to and aspire to!

EUT: How did you end up working with Lemar?

Shaun Anthony: I was rehearsing outside my college and Darren Brown of Pyramid Entertainment was walking past and heard me singing. He invited me to a meeting at their studio…about ten minutes into the interview, Lemar walked into the room. The story really begins there! Dreams come true really!

EUT: What was it like supporting him on his shows?

Shaun Anthony: It was an amazing experience. I worked hard but also had a lot of fun! It was great singing in front of large audiences, I felt like I was in my element. It was fun but also a learning experience.

EUT: What kind of tracks do you have on your album?

Shaun Anthony: The tracks on my album are quite eclectic. They range from Motown flavoured, to R&B, Country and Soul. I am trying to reach a wide audience, and also create music that can cross over into several genres. The album is Pop-based but very Soulful!

EUT: The album is called Soulful Pop. How did you manage to make Pop soulful?

Shaun Anthony: The majority of the sounds could be branded as Pop but I think it is the combination of the tone of my voice and the style that makes them Soulful.

EUT: Who have you been working with?

Shaun Anthony: I've been blessed to work with many great writers and producers including Craig Hardy, Lemar, Fitzgerald Scott, Pete Deveraux, Jamie Hartman, and Sticky Studios. It’s been amazing.

EUT: What makes you different to other UK artists coming out at the moment?

Shaun Anthony: My style, my soulful vocals and the songs we have chosen. I'm bringing back some old school flavour - aiming to reach an older audience as well as the young people.

EUT: Who would you like to work with in the future and why?

Shaun Anthony: I would love to work with Brian McKnight because, as I mentioned before - he is my idol and I love his songs, his musicianship and his overall style. Also Alicia Keys and Amy Winehouse because I feel they are great female artists who produce real, Soulful music.

EUT: What would you like to achieve in 2008?

Shaun Anthony: In 2008 I would love to be signed with a major deal, perform live as much as possible and release a hugely successful album.
